Beloit Janesville Symphony

The Beloit Janesville Symphony is a semi-professional symphony orchestra founded in 1954. Originally known as the Beloit Civic Symphony, it later became known as the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra, and is now the Beloit Janesville Symphony, and is composed of professional and amateur musicians. The founding director in 1954 was Lewis Dalvit. Dr. Crawford Gates was director for the next 34 years between 1963 and 1999. The current music director is Dr. Robert Tomaro. Under their leadership, the symphony has grown to attract players from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Over the years, the Beloit Janesville Symphony has grown from 35 to over 80 performers. The group performs 15 concerts each year in Beloit, and Janesville, Wisconsin, including a free patriotic pops concert performed in Beloit and Janesville each July 4th, symphonic concerts, a pops concert, and three student performances.
